BCA Pool League (BCAPL) is an international pool league santioning body owned by Cue Sports International (CSI). It utilizes the FargoRate skill system used around the world including with all professional pool players. BCA Pool League of Northern Kentucky (BCAPL of NKY) is your local pool league ran by Scooter.
To start your FargoRating, BCAPL of NKY will look at your ratings in other leagues and/or use a best guess to start you with a ballpark starter rating. This rating will change as your completed matches get entered into the system but does NOT have any effect on the ratings with other leagues.
The majority of the league plays as single (one-on-one) 8-Ball matches. Matches are scheduled weekly and will consist of a handicapped race of games based on skill level differences. As an example, if you and your opponent are close in skill levels, each player may have to win 4 games to win the set. If the 2 players are drastically different skill levels, then the higher rated player may have to win as much as 6 games against the weaker player only having to win as few as 2 games. There are several race charts in-between those extremes to create an semi-even odds of winning between 2 players.
The schedule you will be given includes everyone's cell phone number. You and your opponent simply reach out to each other and find a day and time that is convenient for both of you and then choose a location that has a pool table available for up to an hour long match. After the match is complete, text a pic to the league operator (Scooter) and Venmo or CashApp payment. Cash payments can be left in an envelope and put in the binder but digital payment is perferred. Currently, dues are $10 once per 3 month session and $5 for every weekly match played. There are no annual dues because the session fees will cover that.
At the end of each regional division sesssion, MVP awarded to the 1st place player and that player will get to skip playoffs. In divisions with at least 6 players, the playoffs will be 2nd place playing a randon wilcard players and 3rd place playing 4th place in the first round. The winners of those 2 matchups will play for the division playoffs title. In divisions with less than 6 players, 1st place is still awarded MVP but playoffs are only the 2nd place against a wildcard for playoffs. In either situation, the MVP and playoff winners will get a bid to play in the annual league-wide Champion of Chamions tournament with the winner getting a fully paid trip to Vegas to play in the World Championships.
We also have league formats that play 9-Ball and 10-Ball matches in the same manner as 8-Ball and also Scotch Doubles 8-Ball that is scheduled for a specific day, time and location.
